COGG HILL'S DEMON DEACON------ DEACON ------
Introducing the newest member of the Cogg Hill gang, Deacon. Deacon, or just Deke, formally named Cogg Hill's Demon Deacon, is a pup from the breeding of my male, Cody, (Lime Creek's Code of Honor) and Dakota Plains Prairie Rose. Rosie lives with Robb Gottenborg in North Dakota. Click here for a copy of Deacon's pedigree. Deacon is named after the Wake Forest University sports teams mascot. Deke is not living up to his name, however, since he has turned out to be just as sweet and gentle a dog as his dad, albeit with tons of youthful puppy energy. Deacon enjoys being a pup. Deacon was whelped November 24, 2009. To date, he has earned his AKC Junior Hunter title by passing four consecutive hunt tests in the summer of 2010. I first ran Deke as the test dog when he was 5 months old. He did a great job in two hunt tests but he could not officially enter tests until he was 6 months old, per AKC rules. Once official, he passed consecutive tests at Fox Valley RC, Island View RC, and a double junior at Wisconsin Amateur RC, to earn his AKC Junior Hunter title. Deacon's Senior Hunter quest began with a pass at the Badger Golden RC test June 18/2011. He has followed with passes at the Midwest Field Trial Club's summer hunt test on 6/26 and at Fox Valley RC test 7/16. Deacon titled out at the Wisconsin Amateur Retriever Club's test on 7/30. In 90 degree heat and high humidity, Deacon did a fine job on both land and water doubles. His outstanding achievement was that Deacon was the only one of the 43 dogs entered to line his water blind. He earned his Senior Hunter title in fine style. Deacon and I are currently training for the Master level. At the Fox Valley Senior water series test, a friend took the following video of Deacon's water series. This was taken with a telephoto lens so distances appear shorter than they actually are. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyQAkxtRwsQ Health Clearances/Certificates: Deacon is EIC clear by parentage. But I had him tested and, as expected, he is EIC clear. I have also confirmed that Deacon is CNM clear. The latest test was his CERF; he received a clean bill of health on eyes in June; his CERF certificate number is: LR-354072. While on the genetic testing binge, I also sent a cell sample to DDC Veterinary for analysis of the E and B loci. We now know that Deacon, black in color, carries the gene for chocolate color, he does not carry the gene for yellow color. Thus, his color genotype is EEBb.
