Alex was a great retriever and wonderful all-round dog. Even though he was 100% conformation bred, he achieved the level of AKC Master Hunter. After suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) complete tear while hunting in the fall of 1997, it was repaired by surgery in February of 1998. Unfortunately, due to the timing this caused us to miss the entire 1998 training season. We are now training for the title of Master Hunter and I am extremely proud to report that Alex recently passed his first ever Master test at the Fox Valley Retriever Club test on July 17-18, 1999, following up that with a ribbon in his second test at Backwater Retriever Club in Syracuse, Indiana on September 7-8, and a stellar performance at the Badger Golden Retriever Club at Bong Rec Area, August 14-15, 1999 for his third Master pass. Due to judging assignments, the last two passes for his title will probably occur in the 2000 hunt test season.
